CSV, Excel, JSON and XML tools that never upload your files

PrivateCSV is a set of free tools to split, merge and validate CSV files, extract their columns, and convert between CSV, XML, JSON and Excel. Every tool runs inside your web browser: your file is read and processed on your own device, and the result is created there too. There is no account to create and nothing to install.

Why use PrivateCSV

Your files stay on your device

Customer lists, payroll exports and bank statements should not pass through a stranger's server just to change format. Here they don't: the file is read and converted by your browser. Open the Network tab of your browser's developer tools while a tool runs and you will see that nothing is sent.

Built for large files

Files are read in chunks by a background thread, so the page stays responsive while a big CSV is split or an XML file is converted. Our automated tests run in a real browser with a 400,000-row CSV and a 120,000-record XML file.

Output you can trust

CSV is read and written according to RFC 4180, so quoted values containing commas or line breaks survive. Delimiters are detected, and values are never reformatted: ZIP codes keep their leading zeros and long IDs keep every digit.

No hoops to jump through

No account, no email address, no software to install and no limit on how many files you process. Pick a file, get the result.

Questions

Is PrivateCSV free?

Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, without an account and without a limit on the number of files.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The tools run as JavaScript inside your browser, and the files you choose are processed in your device's memory. The site has no upload feature. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools, as explained on the How it works page.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes, in any current browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, macOS or Linux. Phones have less memory than computers, so very large files are best handled on a computer.

Can I install it as an app?

Yes. In Chrome or Edge, use “Install app” from the browser menu or the address bar. On Android, choose “Add to Home screen”. The installed app opens in its own window.

Your files never leave your device

PrivateCSV runs every tool inside your browser. No upload, no account, nothing to install.
